Strawberry Farms Westbound 161 Left Turn Lane Closing... That is right, ODOT has stated that they will be closing the Left Turn Lane into Strawberry Farms from westbound 161. The closure will be PERMANENT! October 16, 2007: ODOT met with the community this evening to provide an update on the 161/I-270/Sunbury Rd. construction effort. ODOT graciously showed up in force and provided some information. Click here to see the meeting notes as captured by Jim Burgess (Director of Membership)... October 7, 2007: ODOT is returning... ODOT will address the community on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007. The meeting will be held at the Lamb of God Lutheran Church located at 4925 Sunbury Rd. (located between the Sunbury Rd. entrance and Morse Rd. on the West side of Sunbury Rd.) We will meet at 6 PM. Although it is understood that no changes have been made, ODOT will be providing an update. September 4, 2007: Unfortunately, there is still nothing new to report. Many attempts have been made to contact ODOT. The information listed here... is from a flyer that the Association sent out in September of 2007. June 24, 2007: At the present time, there is nothing new to report. With the change in state government leadership at the beginning of the year, the ODOT leadership changed. MANY phone calls have been made. Local representatives have been contacted. The SFCA team is still trying to get answers but ODOT is not providing any new information. Stay tuned, we will report what we find out. December 20, 2006: ODOT has updated their FAQ's on the 161Next.org web site. They have been copied here... November 11, 2006: With the confirmation that ODOT is to be at the next community meeting, there will be a community meeting at Easton Worship Center at 7 PM on November 27th. September 28, 2006: From the "pavingtheway.org" website directly quoted as found on 9/28/2006: "Beginning Friday (9/29), the left turn lane from S.R. 161 westbound to Strawberry Farms Boulevard will be permanently eliminated in anticipation of the new flyover ramp opening (there is not enough room for motorists to safely merge). Motorists will need to go down to S.R. 3 and flip around to access Strawberry Farms until a u-turn is constructed next summer.
